Karen Zizzo, RN

Family Nurse Practitioner located in Round Rock, TX

About Karen

Karen Zizzo, RN, is a dedicated and compassionate family nurse practitioner at Williamson County Integrative Medicine in Round Rock, Texas.

Karen earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois in Chicago, and stayed in the city to begin her career as a registered nurse, spending many years working in critical care and post-anesthesia care units. She decided to continue her education at the University of Texas in Austin, where she earned her master’s with certification as a family nurse practitioner. She’s also trained in aesthetic treatments, such as Botox® and facial fillers.

As a nurse practitioner, Karen has gained experience working in a number of fields, such as family practice, women’s health, and neurology. The more she practiced, the more she became convinced that a functional approach is vital to proper health care and that prescribing a pill to blanket symptoms is no match for digging up and treating the root cause of a disease. She has since actively pursued more education and training in functional medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine and a number of other longevity and anti-aging programs. She believes that many of the chronic health conditions people battle today can be prevented by changing our diet and reducing inflammation.

Karen is married with three grown sons who are directly responsible for her education in patience. She lives an active life and models the healthy lifestyle practices that she advises her patients to follow.
